UTAUT
( http://csrc.lse.ac.uk/asp/aspecis/20110235.pdf) postulates that
four core constructs – performance
expectancy, effort expectancy,
social influence, and facilitating conditions –are direct
determinants of IS/IT behavioural intention and ultimately behaviour (Venkatesh
et al., 2003). The theory also assumes that the effect of core constructs is
moderated by gender, age, experience, and voluntariness
of use (Venkatesh et al., 2003). The theory was developed through the
review, mapping and integration of eight dominant theories and models, namely: the Theory of Reasoned Action
(TRA), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Motivational Model (MM), the
Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), a combined Theory of Planned
Behaviour/Technology Acceptance Model (C-TPB-TAM), the Model of PC Utilization
(MPCU), the Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT), and the Social Cognitive Theory
(SCT). However, Williams, Rana, Dwivedi and Lal (2000) in a systematic review
of 450 citations of the UTAUT that attempted to better understand the reasons
for the citations, use and adaptation of the theory, their findings reveal that
only 43 of the studies actually utilized the theory or its constructs.
Question: What other theories can one use to study the acceptance of e-learning?
